Kristin Tordella-Williams

Alone, together | Alleine, zusammen July, 2021

Kristen Tordella-Williams is continually searching for new mediums and processes with which to express complex ideas and engage with difficult, sometimes painful histories. Initiated by the provocation of a specific place, historical event, or experience, her projects evolve and grow through a combination of careful research and artistic intuition.

Tordella-Williams aims to express the imperfect, fragmentary nature of history, to upend assumptions and to challenge power structures. She often combines old and new technologies to make overt connections between past and present through her methods and materials. An abiding interest in the history of labor – both individual and communal – means that her work centers both her own body and other laboring bodies across time and place.”
